4-H Air Rifle

The 4-H Air Rifle program is open to youth and teens 8 to 18. The 4-H Firing Fanatics offers beginning air rifle classes to let 4-H'ers experiment with shooting and get a feel for the sport. Visit our Air Rifle Workshop page for a schedule of our club's next beginning air rifle class.

Air Rifles are a great way to get started in the 4-H Shooting Sports program. An air rifle is a rifle which fires projectiles by means of compressed air or gas. An air rifle, which is a form of a BB gun, can be used for indoor practice as well as outdoor target practice. This form of firearm is great for training children in the safety, handling, and use of a gun.

The 4-H Firing Fanatics hopes to launch its air rifle program in mid to late August. Air Rifle Instructor, Jim Butler, will be leading our air rifle program.

4-H provides state and national competitions for air rifles. The National 4-H Invitational Match takes the best shooters from each state in this 4-H only competition.. The Maryland 4-H Air Rifle Competition allows 4-H'ers from Maryland to test their skills against other Maryland shooters. Air rifles even have competitions in the Olympics.
